SAA Workshop Early Registration Extended

The early bird registration deadline for the May 14th SAA DAS workshop, “Appraisal of Electronic Records,” has been extended to this Friday, April 18. The workshop, taught by Mark Myers of the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives, will review fundamental principles of archival appraisal and appraisal policies, and introduce the unique issues that need to be addressed when appraising electronic records. The workshop is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

2014 CIMA Conference Registration Available

I am very pleased to announce that the website for the CIMA 2014 annual meeting is live and you can now register for the conference!

  • Early bird registration for the conference and the SAA DAS pre-conference workshop ends April 14, 2014.
  • Conference rates for hotel rooms are also available through April 14.

Are there other social activities you’d like to see at the meeting? We will be doing a restaurant crawl either Wednesday or Thursday evening (sign-up sheets will be at the registration table at the conference), and if there are other ideas you have for events please let me know. This is YOUR conference, and we want to ensure you get as much out of it as possible!

Scholarship Opportunity for Annual Meeting

The Conference of Inter-Mountain Archivists (CIMA) has an available scholarship for this year’s meeting in Carson City, Nevada on May 14-16, 2014.

Persons meeting the criteria below are encouraged to apply.

The Steve Wood CIMA Meeting Scholarship is a $450.00 scholarship offered once each year. Funds from the Steve Wood Scholarship may be used for conference registration, workshops, conference meals, and travel expenses.

Qualifications: For this scholarship an individual must currently:
Be employed in the CIMA region (AZ, UT, NV, ID, WY, NM)
Be enrolled as a student in a program that includes library classes, archival classes, or a related discipline.

To Apply: Submit a current résumé, a cover letter indicating a statement of the expected benefits of attending the CIMA meeting, and a letter of reference from a person with knowledge of the applicant’s work or educational program.

Deadlines: Applications must be submitted by April 1, 2014.

CIMA 2014 Session Proposal Deadline Extended

The deadline to submit session proposals for CIMA 2014 has been extended to Monday, December 9. Proposals on all aspects of archives and archival work are invited.
