No White Gloves and Networking Event After the Utah Fall Caucus, October 25

October 10, 2013

No White Gloves is a new group created to help bridge the gaps—geographic and social—between cultural heritage professionals in Utah and the Intermountain West. As curators, archivists, and conservators in small-population, big-area states, we often don’t have enough opportunities to get to know our colleagues, or to bounce ideas off each other, so let’s start connecting across institutions, towns, and backgrounds! Created by Sundance Institute archivists Tanya DeAngelis and Andrew Rabkin, join the group at https://www.facebook.com/#!/nowhitegloves.

Our first live event will be a mixer at Communal Restaurant in Provo after the CIMA Fall Caucus on October 25. The festivities start at 6 pm that evening and you can RSVP to archives@sundance.org. So lose the white cotton gloves for a while, kick back, and relax with us!

CIMA is working to develop the archival profession in our region, and their programs target non-professionals in need of archival training or assistance. They will be discussing some exciting plans for CIMA’s Annual Conference in Carson City (May 15-16, 2014) at the State Archives. CIMA President, Julia Stringfellow, from Boise State University will be leading the discussion. If you are local to northern Nevada, they would love to hear from you. Everyone is invited.
