The University of Nevada, Reno Libraries seeks a knowledgeable and productive Archivist to join the Special Collections and University Archives Department as a member of the collections care team with an initial primary processing assignment focused on environmental and wildlife collections. The position establishes or enhances intellectual and physical control of materials, collaborates to ensure that materials are discoverable, and prepares materials for use. This position will be expected to create processing plans, write eloquent and accurate original descriptions, and process materials in accordance with archival standards and local practice (as led by the Processing Archivist) using ArchivesSpace and other software. The Project Archivist also participates in the public services functions of the department by staffing the service desk, participating in departmental outreach activities, or other duties as assigned. This is a project-based position for a minimum of one year, with possibility of renewal contingent upon funding and additional project needs.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and two years of related work experience or a MLIS or related degree and one year of related work experience. Related experience: Archival processing in accordance with best practices and national standards; writing biographical or administrative histories and collection scope notes.
