The Gates Archive is seeking an intern interested in gaining experience processing archival materials. This opportunity is designed for an intern to work with archivists to acquire the skills essential for professional practice while contributing to the work of the organization. Responsibilities include:
o Surveying, analyzing, organizing and describing records of foundation-related collections;
o Applying appropriate preservation and storage measures for archival materials (electronic and physical);
o Learning about workflows for the acquisition, processing, preservation, and access of audiovisual, digitized, and born-digital materials;
o Maintaining statistics, reports, and other metrics to improve collection management functions as necessary;
o Fulfilling other organizational duties as required.
Applicants must be enrolled or a recent graduate of a program of graduate study in Archival Studies, Library & Information Science (ALA accredited), or related field such as History, Public History, or Computer Science. Travel to and from Seattle, furnished corporate housing, a bus pass, and an hourly pay rate will be given to the chosen candidate if they are not local to the Seattle area.
