Next year’s annual meeting will be a joint conference with CIMA and the Society of Southwest Archivists (SSA), to be held on May 23-26, 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona. We hope that you are planning to attend, and encourage you to participate in the program. The conference theme is “Enriching the Archives Experience,” drawing on the Arizona centennial rally “Celebrate the Arizona Experience.”
As Arizona celebrates its first one hundred years of statehood, looking back over the years and imagining the future, we as archivists will explore ways to enrich the archival experience. The 2012 program committee invites you to submit a proposal for an educational session to share with your colleagues! As we all continue to face a variety of challenges, this is a critical time to highlight and develop the unique contributions of archives.
Topics of interest:
- Improving discovery and access for users;
- Outreach or integration with programs and services from other communities;
- Interregional cooperation;
- Culture of archives as resilient and innovative.
Session proposals may be submitted using the online form. The proposal deadline is Wednesday November 23, 2011. Early proposals are encouraged!
Formats: Sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes and typically consist of three papers or a panel discussion. Other formats are also welcomed. Individual papers may also be submitted with appropriate proposal information. Information on Student Poster sessions is also available on the SSA website. The Program Committee may form sessions based on individual papers submitted.
