2011 CIMA Awards – Call for Nominations

We are happy to announce the 2011 CIMA Awards will be presented at the annual spring meeting in Boise, Idaho, May 19-20, 2011. Two awards will be presented at that time: the CIMA Life-Time Achievement Award and the CIMA Service Award.

The prestigious CIMA Life-Time Achievement Award acknowledges and demonstrates appreciation for a life of service and leadership in the archival profession, by the peers and colleagues of the recipient. Last year’s recipient was Guy Rocha, Nevada State Archivist (retired). The CIMA Service Award is given to an individual who has made significant contributions to the CIMA organization, or to the archival profession in general in recent years. The award is given in appreciation for their service and leadership, by the peers and colleagues of the recipient, but to a recipient who may not yet qualify for the CIMA Life-Time Achievement Award. Last year’s recipient was Su Kim Chung, University of Nevada Las Vegas, manuscripts librarian.

Both awards are given one-time annually, during CIMA’s annual meeting. Recipients do not have to be CIMA members. To nominate someone for either award: please send us their name, along with a letter explaining why you think the person should be recognized by their peers. The deadline for submitting award nominations is January 31, 2011.

The CIMA Awards Committee will meet in early February to determine it’s recommendations for the names of the award recipients. These recommendations will be submitted for final approval to the CIMA Council and Officers. The names of this year’s award recipients will be announced in March in advance of the spring conference.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the nomination process. You may email your nomination to: michael.frazier@unlv.edu, with the subject “CIMA Awards Committee.” Or mail your nomination to:
