New Mexico Library Association
Vice-President Charles Stanford hosted an “Archives Discussion” at the New Mexico Library Association Meeting at Ruidoso, New Mexico on April 9, 2010. He visited with members about CIMA and the archival profession in general. Comments were made concerning that many small public libraries are being turned into museums/manuscript repositories. There is much need for basic training in preservation, arrangement, and description, especially in matters of digitization and digital preservation. Further discussion revolved around CIMA sponsoring an “Archives 101” workshops at future New Mexico Library Association events, and providing support through listservs and networks.

Suggestions were also made that SOHA should stage a “oral history performance,” during the 2012 CIMA/SSA Joint-Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. Contact was also made with the Hopi Tribe, with the hope that a future event be considered with them.
