The Sundance Institute is seeking an Archives Coordinator for a temporary position from June 4-August 31, 2012. The Archives Coordinator will work on a portion of the archives of Sundance Institute’s Film Festival and Lab Programs, and will arrange, re-house, label, and describe these archival materials.

Utah Finalist in National Archival Competition

Brooke Smith, a student at Brigham Young University, has been selected as a finalist in the Society of American Archivists’ I Found It in the Archives! contest. This advocacy program is open to the public, so please consider taking a moment to review the entries and vote. Voting is available until May 15th.

The I Found It in the Archives! program is in its second year. Submissions are collected from local competitions in archival repositories, with the winners entered into the national contest. More information on participating in the program is available at the SAA website.

The latest issue of the CIMA Newsletter has been published and distributed to the CIMA membership (volume 39, issue 1, April 2012). In addition, the last issue of the CIMA Newsletter (volume 38, issue 3/4, December 2011) is now available to public. Click here to view the PDF version.

Upcoming Workshop on Electronic Records

The Conference of Inter-Mountain Archivists is co-sponsoring the SAA workshop Basic Electronic Records, to be held on May 14th in Salt Lake City. The workshop aims to introduce participants to the principles of appraising, accessioning, preserving, and providing access to records in digital formats. Before April 14th, registration costs are:

SAA Member — $185
CIMA Member (but non-SAA member) — $210

After that date, registration fees will rise by $50 in both categories.
